Google Chrome version (14.0.853.163) Operating System:Mac OS Lion
Every time I'm browsing a website and scroll to the left using two fingers 99.9% of the time Chrome brings me back to my previous page. I've searched for a way to disable this but without any luck. Wondering if anyone knows how

Maybe post on the help reference or see if there was provision to disable indefinitely.

In System Preferences > Trackpad, under the "More Gestures" tab, disable "Swipe between pages" (or set it to use 3 fingers instead of 2). Chrome will honor this setting.

His answer is correct. Tested it, it works. :)

Using the system preferences to disable swipe between pages disables it for all applications. I only want to disable it for Chrome, since Chrome is the only application for which the implementation is horribly broken.

Does anyone know why disabling this is not an option in the Chrome preferences? It's too bad that the designers of this browser do not expose more configuration to the user. Not feeling in control of my browser scares me, even when it is something as simple as jumping backward and forward unexpectedly.

While this is a big help, unfortunately it looks like this fix does not work on children elements, only when scrolling the whole page. ( See for instance, http://glsl.heroku.com where you can scroll the inner text box and still swipe back to the last page with the same gesture). Super frustrating!

I have a fix.
Go to System Preferences>Trackpad>More Gestures and turn OFF "Swipe Between Pages"

That should do it.
